Xavier Gutiérrez
Producer & Director
A journalist and TV producer, Xavier founded ESCAZU Productions in his youth. He is a director, producer, and editor and has received training in New York, Washington DC, and LA. He holds a degree in Communications from The University of Costa Rica and studied at the University of Kansas. He completed a digital video editing course at the Avid facility in Boston. Xavier is also well known for his creativity as a script writer.
Karlos Benavides
Associate Producer
A graduate from Santa Barbara University in California, Karlos returned from the states to his family roots in Costa Rica. He represents a new generation constantly looking for new ways to express themselves. In 2003 he won an award for his documentary on China & Vietnam; later he recorded a story on volunteer dentists in Afganistan that aired with success on CNN.
Randall Hernández
Associate Producer
His capabilities include: producing, directing, writing, camera work, and editing. He has a great ability to direct any type of video, projecting the clients’ vision to the audience. He graduated in Communication & Journalism at the University of Costa Rica; and has more than fifteen years of experience in the audio-visual arts.
Carlos Araya
Cameraman
“Mr Steady” is a specialist in telling a story with images. With more than twenty years of experience, he´s an expert in over-the-shoulder shots. He has recorded two Popes, three American Presidents and many international celebrities and film stars. His footage has been aired by CNN, CBS, Discovery Channel, O Globo, and European TV.
NANO Fernández
Soundman
To have this six foot tall guy point a boom at your face can be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. With cables sticking out from his chest, wearing headsets and a multi channel mixer around his waist NANO may look threatening; but nothing gives greater peace of mind to any producer than working with him. He has recorded audio in more languages that he can remember; working with documentaries and drama in America, Europe, Africa and Asia.
